Latest tourist resort in Lagoa to open in April

The Riverside Resort and Spa hotel, the second tourist accommodation project belonging to the Água Hotels group in the Algarve, was officially presented to the media and tourism officials on Friday, 18 March.
During the event, dignitaries such as the Secretary of State for Tourism, Bernardo Trindade, Faro’s civil governor, Isilda Gomes, the new regional tourism President, António Pina and Lagoa Mayor, José Inácio were given a guided tour of the four star facilities located in the parish of Parchal in Lagoa.

The hotel is comprised of 136 bedrooms and suites with views of the Arade River, a restaurant, bar, marina for small and medium sized yachts, a spa and health club, three swimming pools, a children’s play park and a car park.

A total of €17 million has been invested in this project, the second one in the region for Água Hotels that inaugurated the five star Vale da Lapa resort in 2010. It is estimated that 60 full time jobs will be created once the hotel opens next month.

Despite teams of builders still working daily on the indoor and outdoor facilities, a fixed date of 11 April was announced during the presentation for the hotel to have a ‘soft-opening’ for the public.

A spokesman for Água Hotels said: “The hotel was planned to be accessible to everybody including people with disabilities or difficulty with mobility. It is the first hotel in Portugal to have been specifically designed to be accessible to all. ”
